The Black Sox Scandal – September 28, 1920

On September 28, 1920, a Chicago grand jury formally indicted eight Chicago White Sox players — later dubbed the “Black Sox” — for conspiring with gamblers to deliberately lose the 1919 World Series. The players were Shoeless Joe Jackson, Eddie Cicotte, Lefty Williams, Chick Gandil, Happy Felsch, Swede Risberg, Fred McMullin, and Buck Weaver.
