Raymond Floyd Makes PGA Tour History (1992)
On September 20, 1992, Raymond Floyd became the first player to win tournaments on both the regular and Senior PGA tours in the same year. This achievement underscored the expanding opportunities for golfers in different age brackets and the evolving landscape of professional golf.
Raymond Floyd is widely regarded as one of golf's most tenacious and accomplished competitors. Born on September 4, 1942, in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Floyd turned professional in 1961. Over the course of his career, he secured 22 PGA Tour victories, including four major championships: the 1969 and 1982 PGA Championships, the 1976 Masters, and the 1986 U.S. Open.
