Visa will end its long-standing sponsorship deal with the NFL when its contract expires in March 2026, shifting its marketing strategy to focus on team, player, and creator partnerships instead of league-wide deals. American Express will replace Visa as the NFL's official payment card sponsor starting in 2026 with a seven-year, multi-million dollar deal. Visa is also targeting major upcoming events like the FIFA World Cup and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics for its new marketing approach.

It has been reported that American Express will replace Visa as NFL’s payment/card partner: AmEx is reported to take over the NFL’s credit/payment card sponsorship category in a deal worth about $910 million over 7 years.
